Hollis Hollis Graves

Lead Pastor

Our lead pastor, a graduate of North Central University with a BS in Church Ministry, has served in churches in Minneapolis, Fosston and Duluth, Minnesota. He has completed training as an Enrichment Marriage counselor as well as coursework at Rockbridge Seminary. Pastor Hollis has also served in leadership positions in the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies and is a Fellowship Elder in the Upper Midwest region. He is Vice President of Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp.

Pastor Hollis and his wife, Vickie have three adult children—two live in Duluth and one in the Twin Cities. They enjoy many hobbies including hiking and biking, snowshoeing and skiing, fishing and hunting, playing drums, riding motorcycle, traveling and planning and leading mission trips.

Fred Goldschmidt

Associate Pastor

Our administrative associate pastor, a graduate of Christian Life College and Olivet Nazarene University with a master’s degree in church management, has served churches in Ohio and Illinois.  Fred oversees various ministry programs and volunteers at Journey Christian Church. His greatest joy is to lead people in their walk with God, preparing them for ministry in our community and abroad. He and his wife, Carla, have three adult children.

Fay Haataja

Director of Children’s Ministries

Ever since she accepted Christ and (at the age of 10) started a Bible club for other kids in her neighborhood using old Sunday school materials, Fay has loved introducing others to God’s love.

By profession Fay has been a graphic artist. By passion, creativity, teaching and children remain at the core of who she is. Along the way, she has served in various ministries (youth groups, children’s ministries, women’s groups and homeschool consortiums.

Beyond her role as director of children’s ministries, Fay owns and operates an art and design business, Haataja Designs (partnering with her son, Zach). She and her husband, Jon, have raised and homeschooled three children (Andrea, Zachris, and Jacob). Fay also teaches art and pottery classes to area students.

Emily Lane

Worship Pastor

Emily grew up in Cloquet, attending this church with her family until after her high school graduation when she moved to Minneapolis to go to North Central University. She graduated from NCU in 2007 majoring in Youth Development Studies with an emphasis in worship and intercultural studies. Emily then moved to Texas to attend Christ for the Nations Institute (CFNI). She graduated from the CFNI Advanced School of Worship and Technical Arts in 2008 and then worked at CFNI in the school of worship for 2 years.

When Emily moved back to Minnesota she came on staff as our Worship Coordinator. Emily’s heart for worship combined with her education at North Central and the experience she gained at Christ for the Nations Institute has equipped her to be an effective music and worship leader and teacher here at Journey Christian Church.

Ed Martin

Youth Director

Ed grew up in Chetek, Wisconsin attending a fellow FCA church pastored by his dad. After high school graduation he attended the Onething Internship at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri and then went on to the University of Wisconsin, Superior where he received a bachelor’s degree in Communication with a minor in Coaching. While in college Ed participated in campus ministries such as Cru and Athletes in Action as well as participated on their cross-country and track and field teams. Ed has a heart for people, especially youth, and feels the call of God to be a pastor.

Dave Hall

Counseling Pastor

Dave is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth and the the University of Wisconsin Superior with a Master’s Degree in Psychology. Dave is called to provide pastoral counseling to individuals, couples and families and also serves as a chaplain for local law enforcement agencies. He grew up in the Cloquet area and recently retired from a career in human services to more actively minister in this area. Dave and his wife Grace have three adult children and three grandchildren.
