By profession Fay has been a graphic artist. By passion, creativity, teaching and children remain at the core of who she is. Along the way, she has served in various ministries (youth groups, children’s ministries, women’s groups and homeschool consortiums.
Beyond her role as director of children’s ministries, Fay owns and operates an art and design business, Haataja Designs (partnering with her son, Zach). She and her husband, Jon, have raised and homeschooled three children (Andrea, Zachris, and Jacob). Fay also teaches art and pottery classes to area students.

Emily grew up in Cloquet, attending this church with her family until after her high school graduation when she moved to Minneapolis to go to North Central University. She graduated from NCU in 2007 majoring in Youth Development Studies with an emphasis in worship and intercultural studies. Emily then moved to Texas to attend Christ for the Nations Institute (CFNI). She graduated from the CFNI Advanced School of Worship and Technical Arts in 2008 and then worked at CFNI in the school of worship for 2 years.
When Emily moved back to Minnesota she came on staff as our Worship Coordinator. Emily’s heart for worship combined with her education at North Central and the experience she gained at Christ for the Nations Institute has equipped her to be an effective music and worship leader and teacher here at Journey Christian Church.
