Palm Sunday – A Day for Loud Praise

On the next day the great multitude who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet Him, and began to cry out, "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel." And Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, seated on a donkey's colt." ... And so the multitude who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, were bearing Him witness. For this cause also the multitude went and met Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign. The Pharisees therefore said to one another, "You see that you are not doing any good; look, the world has gone after Him." John 12:12-19

And as He was now approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, saying, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" And some of the Pharisees in the multitude said to Him, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples." And He answered and said, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!" Luke 19:37-40

1.Jesus was their new King Matt 2:2 "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him."

3.  Jesus was their Savior Matt 1:21 "And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins." John 1:29, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

What was so special about Palm Sunday?

1.Jesus our soon coming King 1 Tim 6:13-16 ... He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords; who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light...Amen. Rev 15:3 And they sang the song of Moses the bond-servant of God and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are Thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; Righteous and true are Thy ways, Thou King of the nations. Rev 17:14 "These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful."

2. Jesus still does miracles Mark 16:18 ...they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Acts 2:39 "For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to Himself."

3. Jesus saves NOW! Rom 10:13 for "Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Mark 10:26-27  And they asked... "Then who can be saved?" Looking upon them, Jesus said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God."
